Property Clean Up Brings Neighborhood Together
Health and Safety receivership doesn’t necessarily always need a total demolition to rehabilitate a property. But it is always aimed towards helping and bettering the neighborhood. This property in Reedley, California was slowly being overcome by nature causing concern for the surrounding neighbors.
This property had been under several nuisance abatement investigations since 2016. The latest investigation concluded that there were numerous fire and safety hazards due to overgrown, dead or decaying vegetation as well as an abandoned vehicle on the property. Branches from the dead trees would often fall, posing a safety hazard for neighbor’s property as well as the neighborhood children in the area. After the investigation was complete, C.R.G.F. was appointed as receiver as began the process to abate all nuisances through the health and safety receivership remedy.
During the abatement process, we were able to meet and talk with the property’s owner. After some initial conversation, it turned out that the owner had felt overwhelmed with the amount of work that needed to be done to bring their property up to code. Due to their serious health issues, the owner was unable to maintain their property. Once we began work, both the owner and the neighbors were relieved to finally see some progress being made to clean up the process.
This receivership was an astounding success. The community really stepped up showing care and concern for their neighbor. With a weight off of their shoulders, the owner was able to feel a part of their community once again having open conversations with their neighbors and has plans to make a garden to brighten up the property.
